Makin’ a Break Fer It!

Looks like Sean’s not perfectly happy in the crib Dad made for him. Yesterday morning (10/31), Mom found him crawling on the floor of his room…and I’m absolutely certain we put him to bed in his crib. I’ve lowered the crib mattress down one rung to its lowest point. I’m betting on 6 months max before he manages to climb out again — and we’re forced to “surrender” and move him into a toddler bed. Fortunately, unlike his sister’s crib, Sean’s crib is a three-in-one convertible.

Happy Halloween!

Getting so big!!!

Sean is growing like a weed. He weighed 23 pounds 6 oz and was 31 inches tall at his 9 month doctor’s appointment. That’s the weight of an average 13 month old and the height of an average 15 month old. He also took his first step by himself on October 12th (5 days before his 9 month birthday!). We’ve been working on it for a while, but he usually cheats and dives toward Mommy or Daddy or gets on all fours and crawls toward us. He loves riding in the wagon with Annalise. Tooth #7 is breaking through and he is SO done with baby food. He wants what we’re eating. He’s clapping and usually a very happy baby (unless it’s naptime!).

If I could talk to the animals…

Sean and I had a pumpkin farm filled weekend this Columbus Day weekend. On Friday we went to Kuiper’s Family Farm with Aunt Bethie and “Aunt” Lisa to get apples and pictures with all the pumpkins. Then Mommy and Daddy took us to Johannsen’s Pumpkin Farm on Sunday. We went through the petting zoo and I pet a goat, a baby chick, and I rode a pony! I didn’t have to hold on or anything! It was so much fun. On Columbus Day Mommy, Aunt Kathy, Aunt Bethie, Keara (or “Ra” as I like to call her) took Sean and I to Goebbert’s Pumpkin Farm. In their petting zoo, not only did they have cows, goats, and chicks, but they also had lion cubs, tigers, and giraffes! I got to ride another pony and this time Mommy remembered the camera. This weekend was hot but also a lot of fun!

Learning to walk is a full contact sport

You should see the other guy!Learning to walk is hard work! I’m cruising all over the place but gravity sometimes works against me.

Strutting Her Stuff…

Got food?

Looks like someone’s hungry. Sean’s doing great, growing and getting himself around. He’s >95% for height and weight at his 6 month appointment. He’s only ~3.5 lbs less than Annalise at her 18 month appointment. He can crawl/scoot himself just about anywhere he wants to go. Annalise better watch out for her toys!

This is what happens when I leave Annalise alone in the highchair with her lunch.

Bobbing for Planets

Since our last post, we’ve been to Buffalo to help Grandma and Grandpa celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary…and Sean’s been getting closer and closer to crawling. He’s now easily rolling in both directions and frequently will arch his back with only his toes and hands on the floor for brief stints. It’s only a matter of time. It’s common now to put him on the floor, turn our back and find him a yard or more from where we left him, facing in a different direction. Annalise was walking just shy of 9mos…I’m thinking Sean won’t be too much later (if not earlier).

As for teeth, there are now two on the bottom with a third breaking through in the top. His last Dr. visit he weighed in at a whopping 20lbs 12oz. and is wearing (quite snuggly) 12 mos. clothes.
Mom managed to capture this video of Sean playing with an infant gym in a rather unique way…
